COSINE Tier-1 distributor Jarwey|COS8552SR or COS2272SR: sensor drift vs in-band noise
Jarwey is a COSINE Tier-1 distributor and can support selection, datasheets, samples, small lots, and lead time.
A sensor front end usually fails one of two bench tests. Either the DC point walks when the chamber cycles, or the in-band floor limits the bits you can keep. Use zero-drift COS8552SR for the first test. Use low-noise COS2272SR for the second. A smaller offset number does not fix a noise-limited channel.
Request the datasheet from Jarwey. Figures below follow the catalog and previously published datasheet notes; lock the BOM to the latest datasheet and your board measurement.
Split by the error you can measure
| What moved | Start here | Published figures | Error it covers | Leave it off this job | Page |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Scale, slow temperature or pressure: zero shifts after a temperature cycle | COS8552SR dual · SOP-8 evaluate vs AD8552 | 1.8–5.5V; GBW about 1.5MHz; slew about 0.9V/µs; Vos about 2µV typical; drift about 0.005µV/°C typical; Iq about 55µA/amp at 3V | Near-DC offset and temperature drift | Treating 1.5MHz GBW as usable signal bandwidth; rails above 5.5V | 865 |
| Portable medical, comms, or a sensor whose resolution dies inside the signal band | COS2272SR dual · SOP-8 evaluate vs TLC2272 (verify) | Catalog: low noise density, rail-to-rail output, RF immunity, low power. Do not invent the nV/√Hz number here | In-band noise and RF pickup | Swapping a lower Vos for a missing noise budget | 937 |
Same low-noise shelf: COS2262SR (TLC2262 class, verify). Bandwidth ladders and family grids are already published; this note only splits drift from noise.
A zero-drift amp can leave chopper residue on the output. Filter before the ADC, then recheck the sample. Rails above 5.5V (motor feedback, rail monitor) belong on COS4177SR. High common-mode bridges belong on COS620BRZ.
Checklist before you pick a second source
- Name the failure: zero walk over temperature, or a noise floor at one temperature.
- How slow is the signal: weighing and slow sensors can use COS8552SR. If the useful spectrum sits in a portable-medical or comms band, start with COS2272SR.
- Chopper vs sampler: on the zero-drift path, prove the anti-alias filter holds the residue. GBW alone is not the signal bandwidth.
- Density: take COS2272SR nV/√Hz and the 1/f corner from the Jarwey datasheet, multiply by √bandwidth, and match the ADC.
- Source impedance: high-Z sensors also need input bias current. Vos does not capture Ib×Rs.
- Rail: both parts are for low-voltage sensor conditioning. Do not drop them onto a rail above 5.5V.
- Package: both are dual SOP-8. That is not a drop-in without pin, common-mode, and swing checks, then a small-lot build.
