COS29752WU High-Current LDO: AI Servers and Automotive Rails
Semiconductor Research 60 2026-07-20 13:35:26
In AI servers, 5G radios and automotive domain controllers, an intermediate bus often must become a low-voltage, high-current rail with fast transient response and solid protection. Second-source availability matters as much as electrical fit.
COSINE COS29752WU is part of the COS2975x high-current LDO family in TO-263-5. The datasheet highlights about 7.5A capability, roughly 4–36V input, low dropout, very fast transient response, and protection features. Evaluate it against Microchip MIC29752 as a second-source option.
Typical applications
1. AI / data center: training servers, cloud clusters, HPC PCs, 5G base stations—bus-to-core conversion.
2. Automotive & industrial robots: OBC, lighting, domain/main boards under crank and load steps.
3. High-power consumer / wireless charging: adapters, docks, TX pads with dynamic regulation.
4. Display & network terminals: slim TVs, monitors, compact comms gear needing lower loss and heat.
Selection checklist
| Item | COS2975x | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Output current | ~7.5A class | Peak CPU/load current |
| Input range | ~4–36V | Auto/industrial mid-bus |
| Dropout / transient | Low dropout; very fast transient | Hold-up under load steps |
| Protection / package | OCP/OTP/reverse etc.; TO-263 | Reliability and thermal design |

Alternative note vs MIC29752
- MIC29752WWT (Microchip)
Align pinout, Vin/Vout, dropout, enable/flag functions, and thermal design; validate load steps and temperature rise. Alternative ≠ no-test swap.
