Small-batch LED dimming module BL-TRIAC: freeze the sample before quoting lead time

Jarwey 2 2026-10-12 15:35:19

A request for a small-batch LED dimming module usually arrives with a wished ship date. The BL-TRIAC note has no lead-time row and no minimum quantity. BL-TRIAC is a Jarwey project module, not catalog stock. A date stays tied to the changes still open on that sample. It is not a warehouse promise.

What the project hands over for a custom design is a separate note: custom TRIAC dimmer module BL-TRIAC. Which layer of an imported quote the module does not replace is here: cost-effective TRIAC dimmer BL-TRIAC. How the phase-cut signal enters a CV or CC supply is here: leading and trailing edge on CV/CC supplies. Those tables stay in those notes. Choosing among 16kHz, 10kHz, and 1kHz is also outside this page. The sample sheet only circles one row.

What the sample freezes, and what the small batch may still change

The note allows a project change on four items: interface, dimming curve, PWM frequency, and leading/trailing sense logic. An OEM mark is frozen with that batch. The split below is only sample versus small batch.

Stage Write on the sheet After it is frozen Do not quote the date as
Sample One load row only; full wall-control model; leading or trailing edge; default log curve or the project brightness points; high-voltage auxiliary or secondary supply; high-side PWM or direct MOS drive; sample quantity Not yet a small batch. A firmware change or a frequency-row change retires this sample The note has no “days to sample.” The window follows the changes on this build
Small batch The same row confirmed on the sample: same load and PWM frequency, same SW sense logic, same curve, same PWM pin, same OEM mark Interface, curve, PWM frequency, phase-cut sense, and OEM mark stay with that batch A mid-batch row change or a nonstandard protocol does not keep the previous window

Lead time is followed per project. Once the sample row is frozen, the small batch does not reopen the selection. That is not a fixed number of days. The note does not list one.

Numbers the sample sheet may copy

Copy only the figures in the BL-TRIAC note. Leave lead time, minimum quantity, and any unmarked resistor blank.

Item Min Typ Max
Supply voltage12V15V30V
Supply current—5mA10mA
PWM duty0%—100%
Dimming curveLogarithmic by default; a project curve can be specified
Circle one row on the sample Resistor PWM frequency
Magnetic track, TRIAC output, constant voltageR18 = 10kΩ10kHz
LED strip, TRIAC output, constant voltageR19 = 10kΩ16kHz
Fixture, TRIAC output, constant currentResistor not stated in the note1kHz

Do not put two rows on one sample. Do not invent a resistor for the 1kHz constant-current row. The signal path in the note is RC filter, op-amp conditioning, MCU AD, dimming curve, then PWM, with soft-start at power-up. The note describes the light as fine, stable, smooth, and free of jitter.

Pin fields on the sample sheet

Pin names follow the note. ACL and VCC have no pin numbers. Do not assign one. SW and the high-side PWM output can be changed in firmware. A firmware change means this sample does not roll into the small batch.

Pin Name Confirm on the sample
—ACLSupply input, line, after the fuse
2ACNSupply input, neutral
—VCCModule supply positive, high-voltage auxiliary
4GNDModule supply negative, high-voltage GND
5SWSenses the TRIAC voltage and controls the leading/trailing circuit (function can be customized)
6PWMHigh-side PWM output (function can be customized)
7AGNDModule supply negative, secondary AGND
8VDDModule supply positive, secondary VDD
9DIMIN/PWM OUTPWM output, direct MOS drive

Write the full wall-control model. Models named in the note are for a joint check on the real board. They are not a drop-in replacement. A model that is absent from the note gets its own sample.

Checklist before the sample is released

  1. One load row. Magnetic-track CV (R18 = 10kΩ, 10kHz), strip CV (R19 = 10kΩ, 16kHz), or fixture CC (1kHz, resistor not stated). Do not merge rows on one sample.
  2. Full wall-control model. A joint check is not an unverified replacement. A model outside the note is a separate sample.
  3. Edge. Leading or trailing. Pin 5 SW can be customized. A nonstandard protocol is a new sample.
  4. Curve. Default log, or the project brightness points. The small batch keeps the curve frozen on the sample.
  5. Auxiliary rail. 12V min, 15V typ, 30V max; 5mA typ, 10mA max. State VCC/GND (high-voltage auxiliary) or pin 8 VDD / pin 7 AGND (secondary).
  6. PWM exit. Pin 6 high-side, or pin 9 direct to the MOSFET. Duty is 0% min and 100% max. One exit per batch.
  7. Quantity and window. State the sample quantity and the small-batch quantity. Do not fill in days or a minimum order the note does not give. A row change or a protocol change does not keep the previous window. Contact Jarwey for the datasheet.
