Gree Xinyuan Tier-1 distributor Jarwey|CD294 vs CD294W: same Φ35×60, split by 120 Hz ripple
Jarwey is a Tier-1 distributor for Gree Xinyuan capacitors, and can help with selection, datasheets, samples, and lead time.
On a 450 V appliance or inverter bus, two snap-in cans with the same diameter are often treated as interchangeable. In the Gree Xinyuan catalog, CD294 and CD294W can both sit in a Φ35×60 can. Capacitance and 120 Hz ripple current do not move together. Decide which limit is hit first: the microfarads the bus needs, or the ripple the capacitor must carry.
Figures below are from the September 2026 Gree Xinyuan capacitor catalog, not from a part-specific datasheet measurement. Request the datasheet from Jarwey.
- CD294, 450 V / 1000 μF: Φ35×60, −25°C to +105°C, 2000 h load life at 105°C, 3.50 A ripple at 120 Hz.
- CD294W, 450 V / 820 μF: the same Φ35×60 can, the same temperature span, the same 2000 h, and 4.00 A at 120 Hz.
The appliance snap-in table also lists CD294 at 450 V / 820 μF, Φ35×60, 3.00 A at 120 Hz. That row is not a separate product page. It is the same-capacitance reference for the ripple gap.
The CD294W series page states a 40% to 50% increase in ripple capability, 400–450 VDC, about 68–1500 μF, and still 2000 h at 105°C, citing IEC 60384 and GB/T 6346.1. Dividing the two published 820 μF rows in the same can gives 4.00 A versus 3.00 A, about one third higher, which does not equal that series statement. Use the amperes on the row. Do not convert the series sentence into a ratio for these two parts.
This is not the long-life class. CD298K at 5000 h and 105°C, and radial CD11ZL marked low ESR without an ohm value, are covered in the hours and ESR note. Fan and compressor film capacitors are in the CBB61 / CBB65 note. DC-link film is outside this table.
Same Φ35×60 can: ripple at 120 Hz, then microfarads
| Catalog row | Rating | Can | Temperature / life | Ripple at 120 Hz | Page |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| CD294 | 450 V / 820 μF | Φ35×60 | −25°C to +105°C / 2000 h | 3.00 A | Catalog row only |
| CD294 | 450 V / 1000 μF | Φ35×60 | −25°C to +105°C / 2000 h | 3.50 A | 1034 |
| CD294W | 450 V / 820 μF | Φ35×60 | −25°C to +105°C / 2000 h | 4.00 A | 1035 |
The appliance page places CD294 with washing machines and refrigerators. The CD294W series page names inverters and robots. Those are catalog labels, not an electrical lock. Electrically: if the design needs 1000 μF and the ripple budget stays within 3.50 A, start with CD294. If ripple fills the budget first and 820 μF is enough, start with CD294W.
If the design needs both 1000 μF and more than 3.50 A, the CD294W series table lists 450 V / 1000 μF in a Φ35×70 can with 4500 mA in the ripple column. That page does not state the frequency of the column, and the can is taller than Φ35×60. It is not product 1035. Confirm frequency and temperature rise on that part’s datasheet.
Seven checks before the board
- Voltage kind: 450 VDC snap-in aluminum electrolytic, not a CBB AC fan capacitor.
- Ripple frequency: 3.00 A, 3.50 A, and 4.00 A are 120 Hz ratings. A higher-frequency bus component needs a curve. Do not spend these three ampere ratings on that component without one.
- Same can: inside Φ35×60, 1000 μF points to CD294 at 3.50 A. Ripple-first with 820 μF enough points to CD294W at 4.00 A.
- Same capacitance: 820 μF in the same can is 3.00 A versus 4.00 A. Do not treat the series line “40% to 50% higher” as that ratio.
- Life class: both parts are 2000 h at 105°C and −25°C to +105°C. Do not line them up with CD298K at 5000 h.
- Height: the series row for CD294W at 1000 μF is Φ35×70. A taller can is not product 1035.
- Datasheet and samples: ask Jarwey for the datasheet of the exact part. Measure temperature rise and ripple on the board before the volume order. This is an evaluation, not an unverified drop-in.
