COSINE Tier-1 distributor Jarwey|Gate-driver enable: COS27423SR has one, the COS4423SR page does not

Jarwey is the COSINE Tier-1 distributor and can support part selection, datasheets, samples, small lots, and lead time.

A motor drive or a switch-mode supply sometimes needs a shutdown that is not one of the two PWM inputs. Read the product page first. If it says the part has an enable, that pin exists. If it does not, do not relabel an input as EN.

The COS4423SR page states a ±4 A dual inverting MOSFET driver, Vcc 4–25 V, rise/fall about 12 ns, SOP-8. It does not mention an enable. The COS27423SR page states a ±4 A dual inverting driver with enable, Vcc 4–25 V, SOP-8. The COS3121SR page states a 9 A dual inverting driver with enable, Vcc 4.5–25 V, SOP-8. None of the three pages carries a datasheet. Ask Jarwey for it. UCC27323, UCC27423, and FAN3121 are bench anchors. Check the pins on a sample before treating them as the footprint.

The low-side polarity-then-current note and the note that COS4421SR Vcc is not a SiC −5 V rail are already published. This page does not reprint those tables, and it does not turn the enable pin into a negative supply.

Shutdown besides the two inputs

Fault, interlock, or a driver inhibit that has to be a third pin belongs on COS27423SR or COS3121SR. The COS4423SR page has no such pin. Pulling the gate resistor with a GPIO changes the power loop. It is not an enable.

Both pages that say “with enable” leave out the active level, and they leave out whether the outputs sit high, low, or high-impedance when the pin disables the driver. Do not copy that behavior from UCC27423 or FAN3121. Ask Jarwey for the datasheet and confirm the level on a sample before the layout is frozen.

4 A enable and 9 A enable

When a 4 A edge is enough, the enable part on the page is COS27423SR. When the edge is not enough and the shutdown pin is still required, the page that states both is COS3121SR. Its supply is still a single Vcc of 4.5–25 V. The enable pin does not make −5 V. How that negative rail is split is in the published Vcc versus SiC turn-off note.

About 12 ns rise/fall is printed only on the COS4423SR page. Do not attach 12 ns to COS27423SR or COS3121SR.

Selection checklist

  1. Count pins. A shutdown apart from the two inputs means COS27423SR or COS3121SR. COS4423SR does not state an enable.
  2. Polarity. Active-high or active-low is not on these pages. Do not route from a UCC27423 or FAN3121 pinout.
  3. Outputs when disabled. High, low, or high-impedance comes from the datasheet.
  4. Current tier. The 1.5 A / 4 A / 6 A / 9 A family tables are already published. This note only answers whether an enable pin is stated.
  5. Supply. The stated 4–25 V or 4.5–25 V has to sit inside the MOSFET Vgs window. Enable is not a second supply.
  6. Edge number. About 12 ns belongs only to the COS4423SR page, which is the one that prints tr/tf.
  7. Datasheet and samples. Ask Jarwey for the datasheet, a small lot, and the lead time.
