In industrial control and instrumentation, a common signal chain is: sensor → front-end gain → ADC/MCU → actuation / communications. Different stages need different parts: zero-drift amps for low-voltage DC accuracy, in-amps for high-CMRR bridges, high-voltage precision amps for current sense, PMICs for low-voltage high-current rails, and HPLC line drivers for smart-meter PLC links.
