BL-TRIAC TRIAC dimmer module: the op-amp line does not move the 12 V minimum

Jarwey 8 2026-11-03 10:36:51

The visible function line on the BL-TRIAC product page names a phase-cut capture and PWM module for constant-voltage or constant-current LED drivers, and it says curve, frequency, interface, and software can follow the project. That line does not print a supply window or a supply current. Those rows sit in the BL-TRIAC module note: supply minimum 12 V, standard 15 V, maximum 30 V; supply current standard 5 mA, maximum 10 mA, with the minimum cell left blank.

The same note says the module integrates op-amp signal conditioning that can reduce the supply-voltage requirement. The sentence does not give a second voltage, and it does not say how many volts were removed. It is not a rating below 12 V.

BL-TRIAC is a Jarwey project module, not a catalog part. Send the measured auxiliary voltage and which rail it comes from; Jarwey does the design, the plan, and the delivery. Leading-edge and trailing-edge hookup stays in the hookup article. The high-side PWM pin versus the MOSFET-drive pin stays in the pin split. Those tables are not copied here.

Two rows size the auxiliary rail

The middle column of the electrical table is labeled standard. This article does not rename it or add a measured typical.

Row in the noteWhat it printsStop here when budgeting the aux rail
Supply voltage12 V minimum, 15 V standard, 30 V maximumThe auxiliary source has to land in this window. No rating is printed below 12 V or above 30 V
Supply currentMinimum blank, 5 mA standard, 10 mA maximumModule draw. Budget the maximum, 10 mA. This is not the LED load current
Op-amp conditioningOn the module; can reduce the supply-voltage requirementA function sentence, not a second voltage table. No “volts saved” figure

The path in the note is still RC filter, op-amp conditioning, MCU A/D, dimming curve, then PWM, for deep dimming. Power-up includes a soft start. The note does not print a soft-start time, so none is added here. Raising or lowering the 12–30 V rail does not select the frequency row: magnetic-track constant voltage is R18 = 10 kΩ at 10 kHz, LED-strip constant voltage is R19 = 10 kΩ at 16 kHz, and a constant-current fixture is 1 kHz with no resistor printed for that row. How to pick that row is in the frequency article. The default curve remains logarithmic; when to keep it is in the curve article.

Inside the window, copy the table

Custom build. If the auxiliary rail already sits inside 12–30 V and can cover 10 mA, with the design aimed at the 15 V standard, this row does not need a new rating. If the measurement is outside the window, do not edit the table to match the bench. Send the open-circuit voltage, the voltage with the module attached, whether the takeoff is the high-voltage auxiliary pair (VCC/GND) or the secondary pair (pin 8 VDD / pin 7 AGND), and the load name. The note does not list the supply window as a selectable option. What the project can change is the curve, the PWM frequency, the interface, and the software. What the project has to hand over is in the custom-build article.

Cost. A 10 mA module budget is not a reason to buy a complete imported dimmer system just to obtain phase-cut capture. Lutron QSGR-3P, Schneider L5504D2A, Siemens 5UH82223-NC01 and 5WG1 528-1D801, Panasonic WMY549, Legrand VRCM2, and Opple P068102 are panels or systems named for evaluation. They need a joint check. They are not unverified replacements. The quote-layer split is in the cost article, and that table is not repeated here.

Delivery. The sample sheet should state whether the measured rail is inside the window and whether the source covers 10 mA. The note prints neither a day count nor a minimum order. Lead time follows whether this rail needs a design change. What the sample sheet locks is in the small-batch article.

Aux-rail checklist

  1. Source of the numbers: use the electrical table in the module note. The visible function line on the product page does not print them.
  2. Window: 12 V minimum, 15 V standard, 30 V maximum. Stop if the rail is outside that.
  3. Op-amp sentence: it says conditioning can reduce the supply requirement. It does not authorize a rating under 12 V.
  4. Current: 5 mA standard, 10 mA maximum. Budget the maximum. It is not the LED string current.
  5. Takeoff: name high-voltage auxiliary VCC/GND or secondary VDD/AGND. Do not tie the two rails together.
  6. Do not cross rows: this rail does not select 10 kHz, 16 kHz, or 1 kHz, and it does not change the default log curve.
  7. Sample: build inside the window from the table; outside it, send the measurement to Jarwey before a sample. Ask Jarwey for the datasheet. Move to a small batch after the joint check.
